Great time at White Sails

Had a great time at White Sails Brewing yesterday. After an admittedly slow start, probably due to it being Halloween weekend and everyone partying elsewhere, things got moving and we fed a good number of people.

Most popular dish last night: Shallots and Sausage! Never sold so many!

Looking forward to going back on Saturday, 5 November!

(and a few extra to sprinkle around: !!!!!!)

Post-vacation schedule post

Hey fans! We’re back. Trailer is getting fixed up and waterproofed by West Coast Motor Sport in Lantzville, so we should be back in business on schedule for Thursday.

This week we start our two Saturday trial with White Sails Brewing so come on down and enjoy great beer with your galettes and crêpes. Personally, I think their Orchard Ale is a perfect match assuming they have any left after I had a go at it, but do try them all and make up your own minds!

Schedule for the next couple of weeks or so is as follows:

After which we’ll see if we go back to our regular schedule, which is as above but on Saturdays we’re at Living Forest Campground.

Sinking ships and trailers

Hey everyone. Remember when I said that storms wouldn’t stop me? I was wrong. Trailer is leaking like a sieve, and I can’t fix it while it’s still raining.

So we’ll NOT be at Arbutus Distillery tonight (Friday, 14 October) due to needing to tarp the trailer to stop the leaks.

We will also NOT be open on Saturday 15 October since that’s when the weather reports say we’ll be facing 100 kph winds with heavy rains. I’ll be checking regularly to make sure the trailer doesn’t blow away, but apart from that we’ll be closed.

I should be able to open again on SUNDAY 16 October.

We’ll then be closed until Thursday, 27 October, as we’re taking a week for a bit of vacation, a bit of shopping, and a bit of trailer repairs.  Including fixing a leaky roof.

Stormy galettes and crêpes

Yes, it’s going to be windy, and raining, and generally unpleasant weather the next few days. Are we going to allow this to stand between you and your crêpes and galettes?

Absolutely not!

We’ll be open at Living Forest from 10:00 to 14:00 Thursday to Sunday, and we’ll be at Arbutus Distillery Lounge from 17:00 to 22:00 on Friday, come hill or high water. From the weather forecast, the high water is pretty much guaranteed at this point.

Annus Horribilis 2016 continues.

I’m calling this “annus horribilis” because it has been. Everything broke this year, and I’ve been fighting a constant battle to keep things going. Bistro Breizh was only open a total of 6 days until I re-opened at Living Forest. Things are mostly working now, and I’ve been trying to keep things upbeat around here, which for anyone who knew me from before is profoundly unnatural.

But just to let you know that Thursday might be a little busier because my cooler stopped on me and I lost the entire load food in it. My fault, unfortunately. I’d left the fridge on battery power, and charger couldn’t keep up with the load. I thought I’d fixed this, but I hadn’t. Guess I’ll be getting a new, more powerful charger for the battery pack.

On the plus side, there should be fresh *everything* on Thursday, including sausage. Well, freshER everything, as I try to keep it fresh all the time anyway. So get your freshER galette saucisse or salmon/spinach/goat cheese galette while the getting is good!

Thursday. Be there, or be hungry.

October and November scheduling

We’re quite honoured to have been asked by White Sails Brewing to provide food on a couple of Saturdays. Sounds like a great time so we’ve said “yes”.  Also, we’ll be closed 20 to 23 October.

So the schedule for the rest of October and the start of November is as follows.

Until 10 Oct (Monday): Living Forest Campground, 10:00 to 14:00

Already October???

I have no idea what’s happened, but it’s apparently October already. Not only that, it’s Thanksgiving Weekend!  I had no idea.

This weekend Bistro Breizh will be open THURSDAY (ie: today) to MONDAY from 10:00 to 14:00. I might get there a bit early on some days, and if people are still coming by I’ll definitely be there later.

October hours will include Thursday for now, although it was so slow today that if it happens again we might cancel Thursdays and just open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

October hours:

Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 10:00 to 14:00 ish.
Possibly start earlier or stay later depending on interest, but I’ll definitely be there 10:00 to 14:00.

Will also open at Arbutus Distillery on FRIDAYS from 17:00 to 22:00.
